Stein Salon Revisited and Reversed: An Afternoon with BONERKILL

Saturday, April 16, 2016, 2pm

A program of Rehearsal for Objects Lie on a Table

Why are some things ground to others? This is a political matter and not just a formal question of gestalt. This Salon listens to a young generation of feminists, their concerns about positionality and their propositions for rearranging the world. We take our cue from Erika DeFreitas’ work in the exhibition and host a conversation about issues of representation while questioning a discourse like Object Oriented Ontology and its implications for subjects that have long been treated as objects.

Established in 2013, Bonerkill is an intergenerational and interdisciplinary feminist art collective making and taking up space for themselves. By intersecting critical pedagogy and feminism with contemporary art, they make socially engaged art through media texts, ephemera, analog and web zines.
