This exhibition is comprised of recent gifts to the University of Toronto Art Collection that are all works on paper. Thirteen artists will have a total of ninety-six works included, which will range from a 19th-century ink drawing by G.F. Watts, to a grid-format wall work made up of 168 individual sheets by Toronto artist Ed Pien. Some of the artists have tried to extend the notion of paper as a support, either literally, in the case of a collaborative piece by John Armstrong and Denyse Thomasos, entitled Busy, Busy, that cascades from the wall onto the floor, or in a more metaphorical sense, in the hands, for example of senior Canadian artist Frank Nulf.
