45’ for a Speaker is a chance-derived lecture by John Cage, ‘performed’ for the first time by him at the Composers’ Concourse in London (October 1954). The structure/score of this lecture is similar to his musical works, thus acting as a performative and temporal piece, which its real ontology lies in hearing and seeing it performed rather than reading the written text.
