Curatorial Tour: Whispers of Resistance
A program of:
Whispers of Resistance
Saturday, May 10
2pm–3pm
University of Toronto Art Centre
15 King’s College Circle
Join student curator Sibei Du for a free guided tour of her thesis exhibition, Whispers of Resistance. Dive deeper into “feminine archives” and visual narratives created by artists Anny Peng, Zhou Wenjing, Liu Xi, and Cai Yaling. Through photography, installation, and video works, these artists challenge the monolithic representation of Chinese womanhood and motherhood in contemporary China, confronting complex themes such as reproductive struggles, intergenerational healing, and body shame. Du will explore the artists’ creative processes, technical interventions, and ethical considerations while reflecting on the potential of art to address societal wounds.
This event is free and open to the public. No registration required.
