The Iconographer’s Workshop
Friday, November 17, 2006, 12-5pm
Workshop with Chris van Donkelaar
Part of the Malcove Collection Lecture Series
and a Malcove Collection 25th Anniversary Event
Icongraphy’s roots are from a time when the artist might be said to have “built” his art. The artist was expected to know about a great deal of different materials and manufacturing methods.
Daniel Thompson speaking of the pre-Renaissance arts in general, wrote that such works, even if they were not appreciated as good art, would still have to be appreciated because of how wondrously they were constructed. During Chris van Donkelaar’s week-long workshop he will demonstrate this complex process.
