Access Notice

Please note: Vehicle traffic on Tower Road is currently impeded by construction taking place through November 2025. Car access is available via Hart House Circle (vehicles can drop-off on the south side of Soldier’s Tower for both galleries). For visitors requiring accessibility support, we recommend contacting the gallery in advance so we can provide assistance and best support your visit.

Getting to the Art Museum

Arriving by subway 

From Museum station, take the University Avenue West Exit: 

• Head south on University Avenue toward Hoskin Avenue (150 metres)
• Turn right on Hoskin Avenue (150 metres)
• Turn left on Tower Road. Follow the ramp entrance into Hart House on the west side of the building (73 metres) OR continue straight to University College and look for large red and purple banners on outside of the building (150 metres) 

From St. George subway station, take the Bedford Exit: 

• Head south on Bedford Road toward Bloor Street West (78 metres) 
• Turn right at Bloor Street West (77 metres) 
• Turn left at Devonshire Place (400 metres) 
• Turn left at Hoskin Avenue (100 metres) 
• Turn right on Tower Road. Follow the ramp entrance into Hart House on the west side of the building (73 metres) OR continue straight to University College and look for large red and purple banners on outside of the building (ADD 150 metres) 

Arriving by bus  

The #13 Avenue Road bus stops directly at Hart House at the pathway on Queen’s Park Crescent West and runs from Queen’s Park to Eglinton subway station daily. Bus schedules can be found on the TTC’s website. 

The #94A bus from Castle Frank station stops at Tower Road and Hoskin Avenue. The #94 from Wellesley station and Ossington station also stop at Tower Road and Hoskin Avenue. 

Arriving by car  

Street parking is available on Hoskin Avenue and St. George Street. Underground parking is available in the Landmark Garage located at 35 Hart House Circle. For more information about parking services at U of T, visit U of T’s Parking Services website. 

Arriving by Wheeltrans  

Visitors to the Justina M. Barnicke Gallery can be dropped off and picked up at 2 Hart House Circle. For access to the University of Toronto Art Centre, Wheeltrans can drive down Tower Road, bear rights on Soldier’s Tower and dropped off and picked up at the end of the lane (opposite the soccer field).  

Accessibility

The Art Museum is continually working towards improving accessibility to our two museum spaces, exhibitions, and programs. 

• Our museum spaces are wheelchair accessible. The accessible entrance to the University of Toronto Art Centre is through the Croft entrance on the southwest side of University College. The accessible entrance to the Justina M. Barnicke Gallery is through the Tower Road entrance at Hart House. 
• The University Art Centre has a set of double doors halfway through the gallery that are not accessible. Front of house staff are available to assist with these as needed.  
• Accessible washrooms are available in the University of Toronto Art Centre itself, as well as on the lower levels of University College and Hart House. 
• Art Museum exhibitions include unobstructed pathways. Some seating is always available within our exhibitions. Additional seating is available upon request at the front desk at each gallery. 
• Large-print formats for exhibition texts are available.
