Malcove Vision

Malcove Vision emphasizes the range and breadth of the Malcove collection by bringing together rarely seen objects from the collection in order to illuminate the consistency of the underlying aesthetic vision.

The exhibition presents works from the collections holdings in European furniture from the 15th to 19th centuries; these include a late 15th or early 16th century Italian Savonarola chair, a late 15th or early 16th century North German chest and a late 19th century British library table. The exhibition also features an elaborately carved 16th century Italo-Byzantine cross, examples of south Asian drawing, Coptic and Roman sculptural fragments, Ethiopian manuscript illumination, as well as elements of Byzantine liturgical hardware. The Malcove Vision presents works by historical masters including Andrea del Sarto, Luca Cambiaso, and Giovanni Battista Piranesi alongside those of modern masters such as Paul Klee, Henri Matisse, and Jacques Lipchitz.
